Why tech companies are offering free services to Hurricane Harvey and Irma victims

A California tech company is helping recover data for people affected by recent hurricanes.

Platinum Plus Services is trying to help victims of Hurricanes’ Harvey and Irma by assisting in retrieving data from hard drives.

They say while homes can be rebuilt, data can’t be replaced.

The offer is extended to any future victims of hurricanes for the rest of the year.

It does exclude business laptops/hard drives.

The company encourages people to head to their website so they can get started on finding your data.

People will need to ship their hard drive to the team, who will return it once they’ve recovered the data.

Platinum Plus Services says customers will need to pay for parts – if needed – but only five per cent of drives need parts.
